Bioengineering / quantitative and cellular aging biology

“I've seen how often women's health gets dismissed. My wife, Lauren, needed real answers, and instead, we found gaps and vague guidance. As a partner and researcher, I want to help change that.”

Matt Crane, PhD, is a co-founder and the Chief Science Officer of Semaine Health, and the scientist behind every Semaine formula. Semaine began at home. When his wife Lauren spent years looking for real answers to debilitating periods and endometriosis, Matt used his training as a bioengineer to develop the plant-based formula that led to her first pain-free period. That formula became the company.

He holds a PhD in bioengineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh and in the Department of Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His research uses microfluidic and quantitative biology methods to study cellular aging, DNA damage, and cell-cycle dynamics, with publications in journals including Cell Reports, Scientific Reports, eLife, and Nature Methods. At Semaine, he leads the science and formulation work behind every product.
